Getaway

A ROMANTIC GETAWAY OR SO IT SEEMS...

Beth gives Dave one last chance to prove he can be the boyfriend she needs, even though she has emotionally moved on. Dave has a plan, Beth will love him again or she's dead.

The weekend is further complicated by an escaped mental patient screwing up Dave's plans. Maybe.

Now the couple has to get away from each other as well as survive the cold night with an axe wielding man outside.

Someone won't see daylight.
It's just another weekend with the old battleaxe.

Reviews:

Film Threat
The real guilty fun here is the rapidly deteriorating relationship of the two leads. It's clear from the start that Beth and Dave have zero chemistry between them anymore, if they ever had any. Beth seems much more interested in breaking up than reconciling, while Dave does little to help his cause. Eventually, their union is brought to a hilariously caustic end with a truly memorable exclamation from Beth, too great in fact to reprint here. As satires of dating woes in the 21st century go, "Getaway" is dead on (albeit somewhat deranged).

The Horror Review
I don't get it, but I've seen more low budget, shot on video, Indie horror films this year that I thought were ten times better than almost all of the big budget Hollywood films I've seen this year, and Getaway is one of them.

B-Independent.com
GETAWAY's more like a calling card for what Doscher and his team can do in allowed to more on to bigger budgeted projects, and I could easily see GETAWAY being developed into something larger. All the key horror conventions are present, and Doscher is smart enough to provide fresh twists.

Film Tidbits...

Leyna Juliet Weber (actress / "BETH") is the voice of DJ Amy Sheckenhausen in the video game "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City". Leyna is developing a bit of a cult following, we've received e-mails from as far as Holland and New Zealand inquiring if it's the same Leyna Weber. Her voice also appears in the video game "Midnight Club 2". Leyna has appeared in episodes of "Law & Order: S.V.U.", "Six feet under" and a Television commercial opposite Steven Tyler.

Soon after the release of "Getaway", the band "The Getaway" (featured music in the film) was signed to Epitaph Records and changed their name to "Matchbook Romance". They have since released three CD's "West For Wishing", "Stories & Alibis" and "Voices" and have appeared on the Warped Tour.

We are currently developing a feature length screenplay for "Getaway" and hope to be able to produce "Getaway" the feature, using someone else's money.
